Harassment refers to a series of behaviors of an offensive nature that disturbs or annoys and that occurs on a recurring basis. It occurs through conduct that humiliates, inferiorizes, ridicules, frightens, offends and destabilizes, for example, a worker in the performance of their duties, threatening their psychological and physical health. 

Harassment compromises the performance of employees in the workplace and puts the company's productivity, image and even legal reputation at risk, as it is one of the reasons why an organization has to take legal action. Legally, harassment is behavior that appears to be disturbing and threatening. But what types of harassment can occur? We've listed the main ones here. Check them out!

Bullying

Bullying occurs when a person is exposed to situations of embarrassment, humiliation and persecution on a continuous and prolonged basis. When these situations occur in the workplace, they involve an authoritarian hierarchy that is unprepared for management and teamwork. It is one of the most common types of harassment.

It includes unethical and inhumane practices of abuse of power. Exposing the employee in front of other employees, assigning negative and exaggerated criticism that causes embarrassment and cursing, demanding unattainable goals, acting with excessive rigor and assigning embarrassing nicknames are examples of behavior attributed to bullying.

Psychological aggression

Psychological harassment is emotional violence. When in the workplace, abusive conduct in the form of words and attitudes, the threat of losing one's job for not fulfilling tasks and repeated practices against one's dignity or dignity in the workplace, psychological harassment is a form of emotional violence. integrity characterize this harassment.

It is common for the practice to involve an individual or a group with the aim of harming the other. With the presence of technology in most workplaces, this type of harassment is gaining ground. Attention and effective preventive measures are needed.

Behaviour that is characterized as harassment has a negative impact on the company and results in inconvenience and damage that is difficult to repair, after all, an organization's credibility is often built up over years of work. What's more, employees who work in a healthy environment produce more and work better.
